a change is gonna come......oh yes it will.

ive never felt this feeling before in life and i doubt neither have you.

we've all been sick scores of times throughout our life. try to remember what the routine is? talk to your mother, father, siblings or friends about it? i know you don't call them or make it a point to tell them your sick, but they just know because theyre around you.

here's where shit hit the wall for me:

a month ago my defenses were low because of some lingering spirits in my body.

althought i felt disgusted and fatigued i had to suck it up.
believe me, the little things that you take for granted when you are sick like a sip of water or a semi comfortable seat to help ease your body are the things i will forever look forward to the next time im ill.

for five days it went on and no one knew how unwell i was.

finally, i got through it but the thing that really got to me was that during my hell on earth i was completely alone. no one found out i was sick. i hid from people.i sneezed, coughed and groaned away from everyone(funny, isnt that what people are suppose to do?). i pretended nothing was wrong.

its a peculiar feeling to know you are alone with NO ONE to care for you.

to make a long rant short, i cant explain the feeling that i felt but i hope some day you will go through it so you can feel what it is to live. i think that it's only when you feel debilitating pain or true happiness that you know your human. relish both. perhaps its my negative ego talking right now but next time your sick i dare you to keep it a secret. humor me........or yourself. matter of fact, ill be here for you.

btw motherfuckers, this is my main man sam cooke singing bring it on home to me. i put the live and legendary version as well as the studio version. grown folk music yall, enjoy.

minha galera*

cada dia se la traga mi corazon.

Toucan's III

another somber night spent at my favorite bar. its funny how we are all drawn by its inebriating radiance; turns out two of my dark companions were already waiting for me there (then there was three). as the night powers on, we reminisce, make plans, and catch up. enter the last companion of the night (then there was four). we battled against the intoxicating volume of hops-induced liquid till theres was no more to be consumed and with that we move on to the final chapter of the night...

ill say again, time is never boring when its time to oblige the acquaintances, especially those as honorable as my hosts that night. may your future days of intoxication be grand, and if they are, dont forget to call me jajaja!

por ti, yo me acuesto tarde

a veces en las noches los ojos ven el mundo asi. dan ganas de gritar a la luna el celo. cada dia rabiando, saltando en el sarten.
y ahora ke?

this building sits apart from all the others. solo. wonder if we see it together everyday?

12. Dirty Pool

WHAAAAT UP YO????

Here it is...the only blues song that takes me from zero to 10 or from 10 to zero. *

Apparently it isn’t just me because it has stopped several people in the streets of Philly when ive been jamming to it full volume in the ride.

One middle aged white guy in the Italian Market was the first to appreciate it, smiling all-throughout the happenstance.

“That’s my generation. Who is that? Stevie Ray?,” he said after walking by the window, only to come back during the solo.

I was like, “Yeah.”

Apparently the blues genre is stereotyped to be for an old generation. I don’t know. I don’t get what people think sometimes.

But that wouldn’t be the last time this tune would get its kudos. Weeks later, outside work, I was getting my shit ready to hit the three to 11 when I heard another middle aged dude, afro-american this time, say “That is some good music right there youngster. What is that?”

“That’s some fucking Texas blues for you,” I replied.

Annoyed after listening to this song loudly a friend asked me one day,” Oye wey, no estara quebrada la guitarra? No maaaaaaaames!”

I first heard Dirty Pool the last time I hosted Mofo’s Bar & Grille (1-15-11) and it blew my mind. Funny, it wasn’t even a blues night, (we were playing some banda and mariachi) yet, like always, Skryed and I shut it down at dawn with a case of Corona. This, comrades, was the first time I heard DP; the live version.

"A lil slow blues for youuaaa,” Stevie Ray Vaughan said. psssssss a hueeee!

11. Sweet Sixteen

WHAAAAAAAAT UP???

to our followers, i apologize for delaying last weeks blues jam. that being said, this week we at Mofo's decided to bring out the big artillery para complacer a las masses.

therefore, it was just a matter of time for BB King to make his much anticipated debut at Mofo's. no disrespect BB.
listening to BB King is listening to expressive singing and fluid, complex guitar playing. all day baby, all fucking day.

i picked this particular jam for the playlist because of the different style it has. its like im listening to a little bit of jazz tied with some blues. instead of waiting halfway into the song to hear the solo, King doesnt waist time and lets you have it in the first two minutes.

i picture myself jamming out to this somewhere in a low lit room after a tasty platter of tacos de tripa or al pastor and smoking a lucky strike while sippin on a double of black label (straight).

im pretty fucking sure King would devour some succulent mexican food. on the house homes! a huevo vato.

Concrete Jungle

WHAAAAAAAT UP?
The blues jam for this week is being put on the back burner because today is a day of remembrance for the late and great Nesta Robert “Bob” Marley. Thirty years ago today the legendary musician passed, yet his transcendent musical output has been kept alive around the world by millions. Whatever your soul is longing for, Marley is sure to oblige I am sure.

For me, Tuff Gong, makes me remember those times when things were sweet with shugar.

Cheers to Marley and to those who love his music.

Hey Bobby Marley, sing something good to me! This world go crazy, it’s an emergency!

Feliz diez de mayo ijas de su madre.

I believe ive heard my mothers voice every day since I was a baby. that’s around 9000 days. I don’t think about it much, but I wonder what it will feel like when I can no longer hear her speak to me. Déjà vu maybe?

LIVE REQUEST HOUR! -shooting range edition!

well, twas a pretty comfortable weekend in "san anton." weather was nice, and boy was the shooting part ever the sweetest. got a couple shots off at the zero range and put a good number of targets down. by the way, later i found myself chillin with this cool cat goes by the name of mr. moonxxxshine aka dlonelyboy when this sweet jam by the Doors started playing on the radio. pretty simple lyrics leave room for an easy but very catchy melody on this one. i read somewhere, it tells of a soldier tryin to get some from his best gal bfore he takes off to ice some VC trash downrange hehe! coming up next during our "LIVE REQUEST HOUR -shooting range edition!" Love Me Two Times! big shout out to the "compa" all the way up in H-town. relax and take a breather, but be sure to do it on The Man's clock.

LIVE REQUEST HOUR! Joe Bonamassa

the fact that Mr Joe Bonamassa is such a big fish in the blues community should be no surprise considering that he grew up feeding on all the greats. but that doesnt just mean he can play B.B. King by heart, this guy shreds like a moonshining devil on an acid trip, whoa! "So Many Roads" and "Just Got Paid", both off the "BBC Live Special" album from 2008. coming up next is the first edition of the live request hour! just remember to "hang your head low and let the guitar move your soul." big shout out to Coñazo e Cuñi and thanks for your participation; im definitely a fan now. we expect to see more of you at the bar!

9. Born Under a Bad Sign

WHAAAAAAAAT UP?
Nearly eight minutes of pure blues being jammed out by the G.O.A.T. right here. Whether it be a rainy afternoon or a cloudy day, the licks in this song have resonated loudly every so often for the past four frigid months. This is Hendrix’s instrumental version of Albert King’s original recording back in ‘67.

Personally, I like this jam because of how piercing the sound can get. You’ll know what I mean. head bobbing to the bass line is a must.

SUGGESTED activities while jamming to this joint: 1. play LOUDLY while making daily rounds. 2. Sit near a comfortable place, grab some tobacco, chron or drink and ponder carefully about your life. ;-/

If it wasn't for bad luck,
I wouldn't have no luck at all.

RELEASE THE HOUNDS!

well it seems the scourge of the middle east has finally been eliminated. i wont deliberate on the details since you all have probably found out by now (unless you live under a rock). wonder what went through his head as he took his last breath on this earth. it must suck to fathom the notion that millions of Americans want you dead, and it must REALLY suck when you see a pack of angry navy SEALs kick down your door looking to collect your life. you know, you see this guy in all these propaganda videos holding ak's and looking all tactical with 2way radios and shit; despite all this prancing about he couldnt take down a single u.s. operative when the shit got real. well, then again SEALs are trained killers and not poster boys for a group with archaic beliefs and practices. and with that, many people have taken to the streets to celebrate the death of one osama bin laden leading with a single protest, "Humanity has rejected you, go forth and reap the accolades of your bestial crimes. May your soul never find comfort wherever it is you and your kind are discarded."
